How to Play Wonderkid

Wonderkid is a free football career simulator you play in your browser — no download, no sign-up, works on your phone. You start as a 16-year-old academy prospect at a tiny club and live out an entire career, one decision at a time. There's no joystick skill involved: the game is about choices. Where you sign, how you train, what you say to the press, and whether you go on the night out.

Creating your player

Pick a position and two traits. Strikers and wingers score more (and scoring drives fame), playmakers rack up assists, and defenders take the scenic route to respect. Traits shape your whole career: Iron Body halves your injuries, Media Darling grows your fame faster, Late Bloomer keeps you improving until 30. Your hidden potential is rolled when you start — most players can become very good, and a rare few can become legends.

Seasons, form and training

Each season is nine match blocks with events in between. Your ratings depend on your ability against the league's level, your form, and your fitness. Form is the engine of everything: good performances feed it, and it feeds better performances. Each season you pick one training focus — technique, pace, physique or mentality. Rotating focus areas builds a rounder, better player than hammering one stat. Growth is fast as a teenager and slows every year; careers peak around 27 to 29, so make your early seasons count.

Transfers and promotion

Play well and bigger clubs come calling at season's end. Moving up a league means better coaching and higher wages but tougher opponents — jump too early and you'll rot in the rotation. Win your league and your club gets promoted with you if you stay, which is the loyal road to the top. At the elite level, a superclub move tends to surface every few years if you keep shining.

The World Cup

Every four years, if you've made your national squad, you play the World Cup match by match — group stage, then knockouts, where one bad night sends you home. Winning it is genuinely rare and worth a mountain of legacy points; the Golden Boot and Golden Ball stack even more on top.

The Ballon d'Or and your legacy

The Ballon d'Or is the summit: it takes a world-class season, at the top level, while world-famous — and even then the vote can betray you. Most careers never win one; that's the point. When you retire, everything you did becomes a legacy score and a grade from D to GOAT. Then you start again and try to beat it.

Daily Challenge

Once a day, everyone in the world gets the same prospect — same club, same events, same luck. Your decisions are the only difference. Play it, share your score, and settle arguments.

Quick tips

Protect your form: skip the night out when your legs matter more than the banter. Rest injuries instead of playing through them — a torn hamstring costs more than two quiet weeks. Don't leap two divisions just because the wage looks shiny. Say yes to your country, always. And if a teammate offers you cryptocurrency, well. You'll see.
